Production Model as of December 2000

Dolby Digital Sound:

Unexcelled playback is achieved by state of the art electronics and by reading the sound track with the reverse scan method. High output LEDs with outstanding service life are used to read the digital track. The digital sound information is enlarged and projected by an objective lens onto a CCD chip. This method assures reliable and precise reading of the digital track.

Analog Sound:

The same method is used to read the analog track. Reduced slit size as well as optical enlargement minimizes the amount of information reaching the slit. This provides remarkably higher sound quality compared with conventional methods. This significant new method offers frequency response up to 16 kHz. It has been designed specifically to take full advantage of higher frequencies providing optimized sound quality and dynamic range. The scanning process also features remarkably improved channel separation. There is no longer a need to change exciter lamps and routine readjustment to maintain playback level is eliminated.

Options:

The soundhead can be ordered either (1) for analog sound, upgradeable to Dolby Digital, or (2) for both analog and Dolby Digital sound.

Mounting on existing projectors:

The soundhead exactly replaces the older exciter lamp style device. No metalwork is required. The supplied circuit board must be mounted somewhere within the projector base or nearby.

Technical Data:

Light source:Special LEDs for analog and digital sound units
Power:Specify if you want the power supply input set for 115V, 50/60 Hz or
230V, 50/60 Hz, although it can be field changed.
Power Consumption:6 Watts
Wow and flutter:< 0.1%
Frequency response:Analog: 30Hz ~ 16kHz +/- 1 dB
Digital: 20Hz ~ 20kHz +/- 0.5dB
Cables:The kit includes a 30 Ft. Dolby Digital "video" cable, you will need to provide the power (typ. 18 AWG) and analog audio (2 X Belden 8451 or equiv.) yourself. It is possible to upgrade the "video" cable to 50 Ft. or 100 Ft. The "video" cable just plugs in to the DA10, DA20 or CP500D.
